The Worthington Trojans high school girls tennis team prevailed Tuesday in the first round of Section 2AA team tournament play, defeating Jordan at Jordan, 4-3.
The Trojans are seeded fifth in the tournament. Jordan is fourth.
Worthington will compete in the second round on Thursday at Prior Lake, beginning at 4 p.m. Prior Lake is the No. 1 tournament seed.
WHS won two of four singles matches Tuesday and two of the three doubles matches. Kessey Aljets and Bailey Newman were the singles winners for the Trojans, both pulling out victories in close matches. Aljets' match at No. 3 singles went three sets, and she won the deciding third set 6-1. Taya Oberloh and Brooke Nordseth won at No. 1 doubles while Hannah McNab and Taylor Nordseth won at No. 3 doubles.
