The 2021 Globe All-Area Volleyball team

The 2021 All-Area Volleyball team is out. The first team features two players from Jackson County Central, and one each from Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda, Red Rock Central, Worthington and Luverne.

We are part of The Trust Project.

FIRST TEAM

Sadie Voss

Senior hitter

Jackson County Central

Voss, who first graced the first-team All-Area squad in her sophomore season, is now a three-timer. An all-around performer who can move anywhere on the court and be successful. Has an uncanny ability to see the whole floor and hit the open spot. Finished with 513 kills, 415 digs and 108 service aces in her senior state tournament season.

Maci Farmer

Junior setter

Jackson County Central

Outstanding in every sport she touches, Farmer finally chose volleyball over MYFL tackle football after sixth grade, and JCC volleyball fans are very glad she did. A very athletic and consistent setter. A student of the game, always wanting to grow as a player. Made 1,071 set assists this year with 197 digs and a 94.8 serving percentage.

Ellyson Bang

Senior setter

Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda

Every winning team requires someone like Bang. She served this year at 94.4 percent with 38 aces, had 78 kills and 45 blocks, with 720 set assists and 215 digs. “She was a team leader. A physical team leader -- she had a hand in almost every single play. Also positivity, morale. She just had a way of tying things together,” said her coach Trista Rhubee.

Karli Arkell

Senior hitter

Red Rock Central

Arkell is always the go-to player on offense. A Max Preps National Player of the Week, KNUJ Player of the Week and an all-state selection as well, she finished 2021 with 473 kills while serving 95 percent with 41 aces. Had 92 total blocks, including 30 solo, and for good measure she recorded 294 digs. A 2-year captain headed for SMSU-Marshall.

Tarren Spartz

Junior hitter

Worthington

The Trojans made outstanding volleyball strides in 2021, and Spartz was a major reason why. She set a new school record this year for serving aces in a single season, with 60. Spartz is already fifth in school history with 435 kills. “She is a solid all-around player, and did a lot of good things in many categories to lead us,” said her coach, Jessica Hogan.
