SECTION 3A BOYS BASKETBALL Fulda 63, Heron Lake-Okabena 62 FULDA - Leighton Gehl scored a game-high 23 points and also contributed seven assists and five steals Thursday, and the Raiders rallied in the second half to edge the Wildcats.

 

HL-O led 35- 29 at the break, but Fulda went on a run to start the second half and quickly tied the game. The Raiders connected on key free throws down the stretch and emerged with the one-point win after a Wildcats 3-pointer at the final horn.

 

“We pressured a lot more in the full court in the second half and that caused some turnovers,” Fulda coach Andrew Oakland said. “We had two kids with five steals ... and we made them work in the full court as much as we could.”

Dalton Slinger added 20 points and five assists for the Raiders, who will next meet top-seeded Russell-Tyler-Ruthton in Section 3A tourney play at 11 a.m. Saturday in Worthington. Matthias Kunerth chipped in with eight points and 11 rebounds, while Payton Marquardt had five steals.

 

Malaki Walker topped HL-O with 14 points. Lee Gunther added 12 points, and Eli Fest had 11.

Adrian 78, Edgerton 55 ADRIAN - Ryan Wieneke scored 19 points to lead three Adrian players in double figures, and the Dragons opened up a 24-point halftime cushion on their way to a triumph over the Dutchmen.

Ian Stamer had 16 points for the Dragons, and Skylar Polzine had 12. Adrian will next meet Southwest Christian at 4 p.m. Saturday in Worthington.

 

Mitchell Veld led the Dragons on the boards with seven rebounds; Weineke and Christian Weidert had six apiece.

 

For Edgerton, Brayden Kuiper scored 20 points, with 18 of them coming via 3-pointers. Trey Gilbertson chipped in with 17 for the Dutchmen.

H-BC 62, Ellsworth 58 HILLS - Junior Preston Wilhelmi poured in 32 points and Hills-Beaver Creek advanced to take on Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a 2:30 p.m. game Saturday in Worthington.

 

Wilhelmi connected on six 3-point baskets and three 2-point field goals while going 8-of-9 from the foul line. H-BC shot 22-for-51 from the floor as a team.

 

Wyatt Westrum and Bailey Susie each grabbed seven rebounds for the Patriots.

 

For the Panthers, Zach Buntjer led the way offensively with 18 points. Brandon Kramer added 15, and Grant Jansma had 14.

OTHER BOYS BASKETBALL ACTION JCC 74, Blue Earth Area 53 BLUE EARTH - Rudy Voss scored 18 points, Bradley Buhl added 14 and Dylan Svovoda had 12 as the Huskies earned a win on the road.

 

The Huskies helped their cause offensively by connecting on 11 3-pointers on the night.

 

Cameron Anderson led BEA with 13 points, while Jacob Vaske contributed 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL T-M-B 71, Pipestone Area 41 WINDOM - Tracy-Milroy-Balaton opened up a 20-point lead on the Arrows in the first half as the Panthers advanced to the Section 3AA South championship.

 

Pipestone Area concludes its season with a 12-13 record.
