Thursday prep roundup: Luverne takes two softball wins over E/SWC

Luverne 7, E/SWC 6

LUVERNE — Carly Olson and Payton Behr hit home runs for Luverne in a victory against Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian on Thursday.

The Cardinals rallied five runs in the top of the seventh inning to win 7-5.

Olson had two extra-base hits and brought in five RBIs.

Paris Van Dyke struck out 11 for the Flying Dutchmen. Maddie Feikema had two hits and two RBIs. Elliott Fleischman had a two-run double.

Gracie Nath pitched a complete game for the Cardinals. She struck out five and walked two.

LUVERNE — Gracie Nath pitched a four inning save for Luverne in a 9-6 victory over stalwart Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian. Nath was hit one time and allowed one unearned run.

Payton Behr and Elizabeth Smidt had scored three runs.

Smidt hit a home run and had three RBIs. Carly Olson scored two runs.

Alyda Vande Griend had a single, scored two runs and had four RBIs.

Ana Veldkamp scored two runs. Maddie Feikema and Paris Van Dyke scored a run each.

Feikema pitched six innings for E/SWC. She struck out six and walked five.

Amira Cowell pitched three innings for the Cardinals.

TYLER — Murray County Central and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton were caught in a classic pitchers’ duel on Tuesday.

The Knights secured a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Mary McNab and Taylor Larson combined for six innings on the mound for the Rebels.

Kya Alderson pitched seven innings for R-T-R. She allowed three hits and struck out 16.

Laken Baartman scored the winning run.

Atalie Rosenbrook had two hits for MCC.

St. James Area 10, Worthington 0

ST. JAMES — Addie Bowers pitched a complete one-hit shutout for St. James on Tuesday in a victory over the Worthington Trojans.

The Saints tagged 10 runs in six innings.

Bowers struck out 15 of her 18 batters that she faced. Bowers also hit a home run.

Madeline Petersen had the lone hit for WHS.

Bailey Ponto pitched the Trojans. She allowed two home runs. The Trojans committed seven errors.

WHS is scheduled for a section game next Thursday.

T-M-B Quad

TRACY — Windom Area boys golf won a quad meet against host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Lakeview.

The Eagles scored 157. The Coyotes scored 170 and Lakeview was third with 178.

The Coyotes girls golf team won their meet with a team score of 239. Windom was second with 259.

Nathan Kueny was the medalist after winning a handicap hole playoff. He was even with par and had 36 strokes.

Carson Boe from Lakeview and Greyson Elder from Windom Area tied Kueny with 36.
