Pipestone Area 60, TMB 39 TRACY - Pipestone Area beat Tracy-Milroy-Balaton by going on a 23-4 run to end the game in non-conference play. The Arrows were led by Tyl Woelber, who scored 17 points, Carter Colemer, who scored 16, Ethan Baartman scored 10, and Isaiah Byrnes scored eight.

Woelber also had four assists, nine rebounds, one block and three steals.   

The Panthers’ leading scorer was Jake Tauer with 12 points. Teammates Moses Dolan and Matt Timmerman scored six each.

Girls Basketball:  SWC 82, HBC 80 OT EDGERTON - In a game of evenly matched teams, Southwest Christian snuck by Hills-Beaver-Creek by making two buzzer beating shots. The first one was by Emily Nerem who splashed a three at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime, the second was by Olivia Veldkamp who scored her only two points being the ones to win it.   

The Eagles’ leading scorers were Nerem with 22, Jazlynn Prins with 14, Sydney Van Hulzen with 10, and Hannah Nerem also with 10 points.

The Patriots were lead by Sydney Fick with a game-high 27 points, Grace Bundesen with 23, and Taryn Rauk with 10 points.

MLA 43, Adrian 31 MOUNTAIN LAKE - Mountain Lake Area beat Adrian in its Red Rock Conference game.

The Wolverines’ leading scorers were Margo Stoesz with a game-high 19 points, and Taylor Naas with 14 points. Seventeen of Stoesz’s points came in the first half, while all of Naas’ points came in the second.

The Dragons’ leading scorers were Lexi Slater with 12, and Hannah Bullerman with seven points. Bullerman also had three assists, and two blocks.

Edgerton 66, W-WG 28 WESTBROOK - Edgerton outscored Westbrook-Walnut Grove 30-6 in the first half. The Flying Dutchman’s leading scorers were Chynna Berning with 18, Madison Heard with 12, and Lila Ockenga with 10 points.

The Chargers’ leading scorer was Camryn Bunting with eight points.

Iowa playoffs In playoff action, LeMars Gehlen defeated George-Little Rock 59-46 in the first round of the Class 1A, Region 1 playoffs.

In the same region, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire defeated Harris-Lake Park 54-47.

Katelyn Langel scored 24 points to lead Gehlen in victory. Gehlen will face Akron-Westfield in the next round, which is Tuesday.

Toni Alesch scored 13 points for G-T/R-A, which will play the winner of Storm Lake St. Mary’s and Clay Central-Everly.  

 

Wrestling:   

T-M-B/W-WG 54, Adrian 10 ADRIAN -- Levi Ellingson and Dereck Ellingson had key wins early for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a victory over Adrian.

Adrian got wins from Logan Taylor at 113 (13-2 major decision) and Scot Edwards at 285 (fall in 54 seconds).

For T-M-B/W-WG, Ayden Horner won by decision at 106 (8-3) before Levi Ellingson won by fall in 2:26 at 120 and Dereck Ellingson won by tech fall at 126. Luis Perez won 7-2 at 132, while Tyler Vandendriessche took a 2-0 victory at 138. Anthony Axford won 12-4 at 145 before Nash Mayer won by fall in 19 seconds at 170.

New Ulm Quad NEW ULM -- Windom/Mountain Lake took care of business in a quadrangular, defeating Glencoe-Silver Lake 52-24, New Ulm 36-31 and Fulda/Murray County Central 78-3.

Against G-SL, Kade Sammons won by fall in 1:29, and in doing so, picked up his 60th career victory. Hunter Ekstrom won by fall in 40 seconds, while Brett Willaby won by fall in 5:24. Alex Borsgard earned a 17-6 major decision, while Zach Spinks (1:19), Josh Samdal (1:57) and Emilio Garcia De La Cruz (5:39) each won by fall.

Against the Eagles, Willaby won by fall in 48 seconds, while Trenton Renquist won by fall in 5:20. Borsgard came out on top in a 5-4 decision, while Garcia De La Cruz needed only 29 seconds to pin his opponent. Jesse Jepsen earned a 9-6 decision.

The Cobras had six wins by fall against F/MCC. Willaby (3:26), Renquist (4:15), Borsgard (3:04) Spinks (1:55), Esteban Sandoval (:55) and Keith Swenson (:31) each pinned their opponent.
