Volleyball

Worthington 3, Spirit Lake 1

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa -- The powerful 1-2 hitting punch of Worthington High School seniors Ellie Weg and Tarren Spartz accounted for 26 kills Thursday night in a 3-1 varsity volleyball victory over Spirit Lake.

Weg had six blocks to go with her 14 kills and Spartz had 11 kills.

Game scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-11.

Addison Gerber had 26 set assists for the Trojans. Kamryn and Tarren Spartz served for five and three aces, respectively. Regan Schaefer was credited with 20 digs and Jayden Spartz had 13.

The Trojans will compete in the St. James Area Tournament on Saturday.

JCC 3, New Ulm 0

JACKSON -- Emma Haren produced 16 kills and Maci Farmer did her typical outstanding job of setting with 40 assists as Jackson County Central rolled past New Ulm 25-15, 25-19, 25-20.

Haren also had 12 digs while making good on seven of eight serves. Farmer was 15-for-17 serving. Peyton Hanson had 11 kills and two blocks. Andrea Benson added 10 kills and three blocks.

HL-O/F 3, MCC 0

SLAYTON — Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda ran its season record to 11-5 with a 25-9, 25-7, 28-26 victory over host Murray County Central.

Samantha Untiedt had 28 assists and 12 digs and was 21-for-21 serving with two aces. Emma Rasche had 18 digs. Marissa Becker, Maddie Schumacher and Lili Nielsen had 9, 8 and 7 kills respectively.

SWC 3, Edgerton 0

EDGERTON -- Southwest Christian’s Madyson Fey had 12 kills and eight digs to help the Eagles to a three-set win over Edgerton. Scores were 25-20, 25-23, 27-25.

SWC’s Makenna Moss ended with eight kills and five digs while Paris Van Dyke had five kills and four digs. Lindsey Fick finished with eight digs and Myah Vander Maten had 13 digs. Teammate Ana Veldkamp ended with 24 set assists.

RRC 3, H-BC 0

HILLS --Maria Scheffler had 20 digs and 15 set assists to give Red Rock Central a three-set win over Hills-Beaver Creek. Scores were 25-15, 25-18, 26-24.

RRC’s Emily DeCock ended with 13 digs and three kills. Josie Horning had eight kills while Jada Radmaker finished with six kills. Ella Erickson had 16 digs. Sondra Rindfleish had 10 set assists and five digs. Reilly Hubin ended with 23 set assists and six digs.

ADRIAN -- Adrian/Ellsworth won in four over Westbrook-Walnut Grove, 26-24, 26-28, 25-15, 26-24.

Sadie Krahling had 19 kills and three blocks for A/E. Karly Kruse had 38 set assists and was 20-for-21 serving with three aces. Hali Bullerman had 35 digs and was 18-for-18 serving with three aces. Maddie Kruger was 20-for-20 serving with two aces while contributing seven kills.

Addeson Jenniges served 20-for-20 for W-WG, and she also had 18 digs and 36 set assists. Isabel Klumper served 16-for-16 and 21 digs. Natalie Wahl ended with 18 kills and Carlie Ross had 12 kills. Isabella Rentschler finished with 28 digs.

Girls tennis

Redwood 4, Luverne 3

LUVERNE -- Luverne and Redwood Valley split the singles matches, but Redwood Valley won two of three doubles matches to prevail.

At No. 1 doubles, Mila Jenniges and Ella Stoneberg won 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (5) over Luverne’s Sarah Stegenga and Katharine Kelm. At No. 2, Redwood’s Anneliese Hammer and Julia Lang won 7-5, 6-1 over Tori Hemme and Priscilla Muehr. Luverne won third doubles, with Augusta Papik and Caitlin Kindt triumphing over Michelle Smith and Julian Brown.

Redwood Valley’s Brooke Zollner beat Luverne’s Roselynn Hartshorn 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Luverne’s Morgan Hadler bested Lilly DeBlieck 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Luverne’s Cassi Chesley won 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 over Lauren Dolezal at No. 3 singles. And Redwood’s McKenna Flinn won 6-2, 6-1 over Luverne’s Emma Nath at No. 4 singles.
