Section 2AA track and field: Trojans place, advance

ST. PETER -- In an event delayed by rain, several Worthington Trojans placed, and others advanced in first-day Section 2AA track and field competition on Wednesday.

Some events didn't finish, forcing competitors to begin an hour earlier (9 a.m.) for the section finals on Friday. The 300-meter hurdles and the 200-meter run -- two events that hold promise for WHS -- will get under way on Friday.

On Wednesday, Trojan Sean Souksavath placed fourth in the triple jump with a 41-7 distance. Teammate Bryce Olson was fifth in the shot put with a 44-3.5 throw. And Adam Koller placed fifth in the 3200-meter run at 10:10.

Koller will compete on Friday in the 4x800-meter relay. Teammate Obang Ojulu logged a fifth place in the boys 110-meter high hurdles with a 15-9 time.

Taylor Eggers placed third in the 100-meter dash (12.95) and moves on to Friday's competition. She also placed seventh in the long jump at 16-2 and one-fourth. Teammate Emma Thuringer placed eighth in the 400-meter race at 62.03.
