Track and field: Sibley-Ocheyedan stays strong
HARTLEY, Iowa -- The Sibley-Ocheyedan boys track and field team easily won the Hawk Relays hosted by Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Thursday, scoring 161 points. Sheldon was second with 118, followed by George-Little Rock with 76, Cherokee 66, Harris-Lake Park 54, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 52, Okoboji 46, Remsen St. Mary's 11 and CCE 2.
Several firsts were turned in by the Generals.
Caleb Mayer won the long jump in 18-11.5. Rylan Marco won the 100-meter dash in 11.47 and the 200-meter dash in 23.59. Jack Carlson was first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.99), and Trevin Wasmund was first in the 400-meter hurdles (56.30). The shuttle relay team of Carlson, Beau Jenness, Meyer and Wasmund won that event in 1:04.10. The 4x100-meter relay team of JonLee Johnson, Marco, Jenness and Dalton Hatting won in 45.56. The 4x200-meter squad of Johnson, Marco, Jenness and Hatting won that event in 1:34.11, and the 4x800-meter team of Joshua Nobles, Lane Tangeman, Carter Brouwer and Jarrett Van Wyk won in 8:58.08.
