REDWOOD FALLS -- The Trojan girls' tennis team fell to Redwood Valley 5-2 in the first match of a doubleheader and then lost to Yellow Medicine East 4-3 Thursday in Redwood Falls.
In the first match against Redwood Valley, Worthington No. 1 singles player Kate Lesnar lost to Abby Schmidt 6-1, 6-3. In No. 2 singles, Elizabeth Luke picked up the Trojans' only singles victory, winning 6-0, 6-4 over Abby Einck.
Kirsten Aljets lost to Ahnna Malecek 6-1, 6-4 in No. 3 singles, while Laura Wetering fell to Alyssa Lueck of Redwood 6-3, 6-3.
In No. 1 doubles, Worthington's Emily Williamson and Rachel Drietz lost to Madison Tholkes and Callie Hansen 7-5, 6-1, while Brianna Kempema and Makensie Carstensen fell to Alex Erie and Becca Einck 7-5, 6-2 in No. 2 doubles.
Annie Lesnar and Sarah Janssen won the only other match for Worthington against Redwood, taking down Carli Grannes and Makenzie Jeseritz 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in No. 3 doubles.

Kara Honius (8-3) and Justyce Voss (8-2) picked up wins for the Trojans in JV singles matches, while Ashley Jansma lost her singles match 8-2.
Erika Schutte and Paige Stewart won their JV doubles match 8-5, while Alicia Khatt and Miranda LeBrun also won their match 8-5.
In the second game, No. 1 singles player Kate Lesnar got the teams' only win in singles, beating YME's Jordan Glad 7-5, 6-3, while Elizabeth Luke (6-4, 6-0) fell to Danielle Clarke in No. 2 singles. Kirsten Aljest lost to Rachel Christensen 6-1, 6-2 in No. 3 singles, with Laura Wetering also losing at No. 4 singles to Leah Gluth 6-3, 5-7, 10-3.
Emily Williamson and Rachel Drietz lost to YME's Jordan Tritten and Britanna Raddatz 6-4, 5-7, 10-3 in No. 1 doubles, while Brianna Kempema and Makensie Carstensen beat Sandy Bartels and Keaunna Hammer 6-4, 4-6, and 10-3 in No. 2 doubles.
Annie Lesnar and Kara Honius also won their doubles match at No. 3 doubles against Mariah Norrel and Sophie Timm 6-2, 6-3.
The JV doubles pair of Alicia Khatt and Miranda LeBrun won their match 8-5, while Ashley Jansma and Sarah Janssen won their match 8-0. Erika Shutte and Justyce Voss also won their doubles match 8-1, while Paige Stewart won her sinlges match 8-5.
Worthington plays its last regular season game Thursday in New Ulm.

LUVERNE -- The Luverne Cardinals beat the Pipestone Area Arrows 5-2 in a Southwest Conference girls' tennis Thursday in Luverne.
Kaitlin Wohnouthka defeated PA's Veronica Johnson 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles, while Cardinals' No. 2 singles player Emily Robinson took down Taylor Carson 6-0, 6-2.
Luverne's No. 3 singles player Katie Eeten won her match against PA's Nicole Scotting 6-1, 6-2, with No. 4 singles player Emilee Johnson completing the singles sweep when she beat Natalie Scotting 6-1, 6-0.
The four singles players are really on a roll. They just hit everything back and then when they have the opportunity they finish the point off.
"All four really played very smart today," LHS coach Greg Antoine said. "They moved their opponent around and then took advantage of their being out of position to finish the point off."
In doubles action, Paige Adams and Kynzie Smedsrud beat PA's Tiffany Woelber and Laura Rudie 6-2, 6-4 in No. 1 doubles.
"Paige and Kynzie played a very good Pipestone doubles team and came out on top," Antoine said. "They really had some nice rallies where there were some quick hits back and forth with us ending it with a winner."
The Arrows' were able to grab two wins in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, with Ashley Gribel and Tessa Lueck beating Brianna Erickson and McKenzie Wenninger 6-1, 6-4 in No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Sarah Woelber and Abby Steffan beat Luverne's Lexi Severtson and Tatiana Gust 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.

"All our doubles teams need to work on taking the easy points when they are offered," Antoine said. "The really short shots at the net need to be angled off or pounded back for the easy points."
Luverne (10-4) plays at Sleepy Eye Tuesday before hosting Fairmont Thursday.
"We all need to work on our consistency of just hitting the ball," Antoine said. "We seem to have a couple of good hits and then a bad one to lose the point or get in trouble."
