Trojan girls top St. James in Crossover

The Worthington Trojans girls basketball team defeated St. James Area 81-48 Saturday in a Big South Conference Crossover game.

NEW ULM -- The Worthington Trojans girls basketball team defeated St. James Area 81-48 Saturday in a Big South Conference Crossover game.

St. James Area led 27-26 at halftime before the Trojans stepped up the effort to secure their third win of the season against no losses.

Tarren Spartz scored 25 points for Worthington. Ellie Weg had 17 points and 15 rebounds. Olivia Hayenga scored 10 points. Brooklyn Scheitel-Taylor had 12 steals, seven assists and four rebounds.

As a team, WHS had 24 steals in all. The Trojans out-rebounded St. James 43-30 and had 20 turnovers to the Saints' 28.

Journey Swanson and Taylor Schoeman each had nine points for St. James.
