LAKE PARK, Iowa -- Harris-Lake Park served well and improved with their serve receiving, but the Wolves couldn’t keep up with visiting West Sioux.
West Sioux prevailed on scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-16.
GIRLS SOCCER
St. Peter 5, Worthington 0
ST. PETER -- Host St. Peter beat the Worthington Trojans girls soccer team 5-0, breaking out from a 1-0 first half lead.
St. Peter’s lone first half goal came from Ellie Letts, and it was scored just five minutes into the game. WHS goalkeeper Chantel Peralta called for it, grabbed for it, but it slipped through her hands for Lett, who simply tapped it into the net.
But for the most part, said Worthington head coach Emily Ahlquist, the Trojans played well in the first half.
“We were pressuring and containing exactly how we had practiced, and the girls were excited with how things were going. At halftime, we talked about continuing to do the same thing on defense, but pushing forward on offense. We were not having opportunities at the net in the first half,” Ahlquist said.
Halfway through the second half, the Trojans played St. Peter mostly even. They just couldn’t keep it going.
