NEW ULM -- Staying unbeaten on the season with another shutout -- their 11th of the season -- the Worthington Trojans boys soccer team prevailed over host New Ulm despite playing uneven halves.
The first half was sluggish. The second half was a more familiar brand of soccer to WHS fans.
The final score was 6-0.
Charles Saydee scored the only goal of the first half. In the second half, Jonathan Banegas scored twice. Single goals were scored by Menkem Mehri, Ulises Barrera and Elmer Guzman.
“The first half, we just couldn’t find the rhythm. We were playing a different style. Everybody seemed to want to do their own thing,” said head coach Juan Flores.

But then came the second half and the Trojans looked like themselves, running the Eagles ragged.
“The other team was just gassed. They just got tired and we took advantage of it,” Flores said.
Worthington, 15-0, has one regular season match remaining, Thursday at Fairmont, before the sectional tournament begins.
