Trojans earn No. 5 seed in Section 2AAA boys hoops tourney

WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington High School boys basketball team has earned a No. 5 seed in the Section 2AAA Boys Basketball Tournament, which begins Tuesday.

WORTHINGTON - The Worthington High School boys basketball team has earned a No. 5 seed in the Section 2AAA Boys Basketball Tournament, which begins Tuesday.

 

The Trojans (15-10) will be on the road Tuesday night for a matchup at fourth-seeded Faribault. Game time is 7 p.m.

 

Other first-round contests Tuesday night include No. 8 New Ulm at top-seeded Waseca; No. 7 Hutchinson at No. 2 Mankato Eaat; and No. 6 Mankato West at No. 3 Marshall.

The Waseca-New Ulm winner and Faribault-Worthington winner will face off in a semifinal game at 6 p.m. Saturday (March 9) at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter. The victors of Hutchinson-Mankato East and Mankato West-Marshall will meet in a 7:45 p.m. game at the same site.

 

The sectional championship game is set for 7 p.m. March 14 at Gustavus Adolphus.
