ROCHESTER -- It’s a long way from Worthington to Rochester on Interstate 90, but it was well worth the weekend trip for the Worthington Trojans girls hockey team.
On Friday, the Trojans scored a season-high seven goals in a 7-2 victory over Rochester Mayo as Kessey Aljets, Riley Nickel and Ashton Fogelman each scored twice. On Saturday, the locals beat Rochester John Marshall by a 5-1 score.
Worthington outscored JM 4-0 in the third period to break a 1-1 deadlock after two.
“The girls had a great weekend. They are really starting to come together and work as a team,” said head coach Chad Nickel.
Aljets scored three times against John Marshall. Brynne White and Fogelman had the other goals.
