Trojans open Jimmy John's Classic

Losing 2-1 to St. Michael-Albertville and winning 2-0 against Renville County West, the Worthington High School volleyball team finished second in its pool on Friday and put itself in the Brown Division for Saturday bracket play. The Trojans will open against Montevideo.

MARSHALL -- Losing 2-1 to St. Michael-Albertville and winning 2-0 against Renville County West, the Worthington High School volleyball team finished second in its pool on Friday and put itself in the Brown Division for Saturday bracket play. The Trojans will open against Montevideo.

Karissa Maxwell was 21-for-21 serving for 14 points and four aces on Friday, and teammate Tarren Spartz served for 10 points and five aces.

Ellie Weg led the team in kills with 14. Spartz had 12 kills while Madison Beckmann had eight and Olivia Hayenga six.

Weg also had five blocks. Spartz and Brooklyn Scheitel-Taylor had nine digs apiece. Addison Gerber made 34 assists.
