Tuesday sports roundup: H-LP volleyball team advances

Tuesday high school sports roundup: H-LP 3, G-LR 1 LAKE PARK, Iowa -- Harris-Lake Park defeated George-Little Rock in four sets Tuesday night to begin Class 1A, Region 1 Iowa girls volleyball tournament action. Scores were 27-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20.

H-LP 3, G-LR 1

LAKE PARK, Iowa -- Harris-Lake Park defeated George-Little Rock in four sets Tuesday night to begin Class 1A, Region 1 Iowa girls volleyball tournament action.

Scores were 27-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20.

Taylor Meyer led the Wolves with 19 kills. Mady Brevik contributed 20 set assists and two service aces. Meyer and Kenzie Heikens had 23 and 19 digs, respectively, with Brevik getting 18.

H-LP plays its next game Monday in Lake Park against the winner of Tuesday’s Clay Central-Everly versus Storm Lake St. Mary’s match.

 

R-T-R 3, Edgerton 0

EDGERTON -- Visiting Russell-Tyler-Ruthton swept Edgerton Public in three, 25-18, 25-17, 25-11.

Madison Heard and Reese Wassink had eight and seven kills for Edgerton, respectively. Courtney Fey was 9-for-10 serving with four aces, and Paetyn Smit was 9-for-10 with one ace. Fey had 19 set assists and 11 digs. Smit also had 11 digs.

Fey, Wassink and Madori Scholten had one block apiece.

Adrian 3, Luverne 2

ADRIAN -- In a battle of I-90 teams, Adrian got the best of Luverne. But barely.

The Dragons prevailed 25-12, 25-22, 22-25, 15-25 and 15-12.

Miah Kunkel had 18 kills and 23 digs for Adrian. Bailey Lonneman had 15 kills and Avery Balster had five blocks. Kasie and Mayssa Tweet had 19 and 18 digs, respectively. Mayssa Tweet, Shawna Rogers and Kunkel all served 100 percent.

For Luverne, Elise Ferrell was 13-for-14 serving with five aces, and teammate Greta Ahrendt was 18-for-18 with two aces. Regan Bork and Tacey Baustian had 14 set assists apiece.

Ferrell also had 24 digs, with Mackenzie Petersen getting 14. Mallory Thorson had 12 kills and Ahrendt was close behind with 10. Petersen had four block assists.

 

W-WG 3, Wabasso 0

WABASSO -- Westbrook-Walnut Grove eased past Wabasso on scores of 25-7, 25-14, 25-14.

Kelsey DeSmith led the Chargers with four kills, and Grace Woelber had 11 set assists. Emma Wahl came up with 14 digs, and Woelber had nine.

Emma Wahl was 8-for-8 serving with an ace, and Gracie Wahl was 7-for-7 with an ace.

 

Sioux Falls Christian 3, SWC 0

EDGERTON -- Sioux Falls Christian proved to be too tough of an out of state opponent for Southwest Christian.

Game scores were 25-21, 25-12, and 25-19.

Jazzy Prins led the Eagles in kills with 11, and she had seven digs.

Maren Nerem and Sommer Schaap both had a block for SWC. Schaap led the SWC team in set assists with 17. Jessa Nibbelink had a team high 13 digs.
