Baseball MCC 10, Wabasso 0 SLAYTON -- For the second season in a row, the Murray County Central high school baseball team opened the spring season with a no-hitter.

A year ago, three pitchers combined for the feat. On Tuesday, Spencer Wajer and Nate Everson accomplished it against Wabasso.

Everson started and threw the first three innings and recorded five strikeouts, while Wajer finished the final three innings and struck out six.

Danny Blankenship had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run for MCC, while Matt Woldt had a hit, scored a run and drove in one. Kyler Deacon had a hit and drove in a run for the Rebels.

Wabasso 000 000 -- 0 0 4MCC 103 312 -- 10 4 1 Windom Area 19, RRC 0 WINDOM -- The Windom Area offense exploded for 19 runs on 20 hits in a victory over Red Rock Central.

Windom Area’s Kobe Lovell had four hits, scored three times and drove in three runs. Alex Borsgard was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Kyle Espenson had two hits and drove in three. Brandyn Sanow had two hits and drove in four runs. Eric Pfeffer and Andrew Quiring each had two hits and scored twice.

RRC’s Mason Irlbeck had the Falcons’ lone hit.

Connon Redman picked up the win for the Eagles as he had four strikeouts in two innings.   

Red Rock Central 000 00 -- 0 1 5Windom Area 6(11)2 0x -- 19 20 1 T-M-B 7, Adrian 1 ADRIAN -- Five players had one hit for Adrian, but six Dragon errors propelled Tracy-Milroy-Balaton to an early-season victory.

Jake Byrne led the Panthers on the mound and at the plate. He picked up the victory on the hill as he allowed one run on two hits and struck out five in five innings. At the plate, he had two hits and drove in two runs.

Caleb Nordsiden added two hits for T-M-B.

Ian Stamer suffered the loss for the Dragons. He allowed two earned runs on two hits and recorded seven strikeouts in three and one-third innings.

Brent Hokeness had a double, while Lance Luettel had a hit and drove in a run for AHS. Grant Jansma, Brandon Schnoor and Trace Kremin each had a hit.

SLAYTON -- The Worthington boys dominated and the Windom Area girls also won team titles at the Murray County Central Early Bird meet.

Seven Trojan boys earned individual firsts as the team scored 207.42 points. Windom Area had 65.78 points, followed by Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda with 59.64, Murray County Central 54.5, Wabasso 53.64 and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 15.

On the girls’ side, Windom Area had 135.5, Worthington 106, HL-O/F 105.5, MCC 53.5, Wabasso 29 and R-T-R 28.5.

Robert Street won the boys 100-meter dash for Worthington, in 12.07 seconds. Other Trojan firsts included Ammanuel Ojha in the 400 meters (55.94), Andrew Huber in the 800 meters (2:08.60), Christian Lietz in the 1600 meters (4:47.34), Terbuto Ochothow in the 110-meter high hurdles (17.94), Eh Kyoo in the long jump (19-2) and Sean Souksavath in the triple jump (40-9).

Worthington’s girls got wins from Bailey Newman in the 100 meters (14.46) and Brooklyn Scheitel-Taylor in the 200 meters (29.90).

The Windom Area girls won six events. Victoria Christoffer took the 100-meter hurdles in 19.02 and the long jump with a 14-foot leap. Lucy Stevens won the 400 meter run (1:08.96), and Delaney Smith won both the shot put (42-00.5) and the discus (110-06). Jadyn Wormstadt captured the high jump in 4-8.

Golf MCC Triangular SLAYTON -- Murray County Central’s Jack Pierson fired a medalist round of 42, but it was the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda boys golf team that came away with a victory.

The Coyotes had a 187 as a team, while MCC had a 215 and Red Rock Central finished with a 225.

On the girls side, MCC fired a 194, HL-O/F had a 257 and RRC finished with a 302.

Cory Renneke led the HL-O/F boys with a 44, Ethan Koep carded a 46, Isaiah Schmid had a 48 and Joe Fischer had a 49.

RRC was led by Tyler Horning’s 50.

Abby Hamman led the MCC girls with a medalist round of 43. Cierra Tutt added a 48, while Paige Behrends scored a 51 and Amber Boock finished with a 52.

Elly Bang led HL-O/F with a 59, while Meakin Bang shot a 60.

RRC was led by Carley Baumann’s 57 and Bailey Timm’s 58.
