MCA at Worthington
WORTHINGTON -- The Worthington Trojans gymnastics team outscored Martin County Area 141.125 to 124.1 in Worthington Tuesday night as Hali Bullerman and Mekyla Nystrom took most of the top honors.
But it wasn’t a perfect night, said head coach Joni Reitmeier.

“I was pleased with some performances, but I’m a little disappointed on some other performances,” she said. “Like on floor. We’re a really good floor team, but we just weren’t ourselves. We need to clean that up. And we had too many falls on the balance beam.”
Notwithstanding, Bullerman won the vault, beam and floor competitions en route to a first-place 36.3 score in the all-around. Nystrom won the uneven parallel bars event while placing second in vault and tying for second on floor, and totaling a second-best 35.5 in the all-around.
Bullerman’s vault score was 9.375, she scored 8.8 on beam and 9.225 on floor. She was second on bars with 8.9. Nystrom had an 8.925 on bars, a 9.325 on vault and an 8.85 on floor. She scored 8.4 on beam to finish behind teammates Ivy Jenson and Olivia Barber (both with 8.65) in that event.
Cristy Banegas, who was third in the all-around with a 32.95, tied Nystrom for second place on floor.
Kelsey Soleta scored a 9.275 on vault and an 8.55 on floor for the Trojans for third place in those events.
Jenson was third on bars with 8.35.
Boys Basketball
Pipestone 49, Windom 37

PIPESTONE -- Connor Zephier scored 14points to lead Arrows in a win against the Eagles 49-37 Tuesday night. Teammate Kellen Johnson finished with 13 points.
Windom Area’s Abe McKibbin ended with 13 points and Dylan Serreyn had 10 points.

Yellow Medicine East 50, RRC 44
LAMBERTON -- Red Rock Central’s Joseph Strock scored 22 points with 10 rebounds in a loss against Yellow Medicine East. Aston Holmen finished with seven points and Isaac Simonson had nine rebounds. RRC had the lead at halftime 20-18 but was outscored 32-22 in the second half.
The Falcons fall to 0-4 for the season. RRC’s next game is Thursday at SWC.

ADRIAN -- Carter Olson scored 19 points and Ashton Toll added 15 as Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey bested Adrian/Ellsworth in a Red Rock Conference game.
Damon Khamvongsa had four assists for the winners.
Peyton Lewis scored 25 points with four assists and 10 rebounds for Adrian/Ellsworth.

HILLS -- Trailing 20-16 at halftime, Luverne outscored Hills-Beaver Creek 32-12 in the second half to prevail.
Casey Sehr had 18 points and Connor Overgaard 13 for Luverne. Cole Baker with 18 points led Hills-Beaver Creek.

SIBLEY, Iowa -- Rock Valley, a team schooled in the fast break, used offensive rebounds and transition offense to open up the game in the third quarter and beat Sibley-Ocheyedan.
Creighton Cosgrove led S-O with 13 points and Keagan Van Westen had 11. Logan Bruxvoort had eight rebounds.

Girls Basketball
SWC 66, Edgerton 53
EDGERTON -- Makenna Moss scored 22 points and Morgan Pap had 18 as Southwest Minnesota Christian defeated Edgerton Public.
Rylie Fey added 13 points for the Eagles.
Southwest converted 19 of 33 free throws to Edgerton’s 11 of 17. Edgerton out-rebounded Southwest 43-32, but the Eagles had 13 steals to Edgerton’s six. The Flying Dutchmen turned the ball over 37 times.

Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey 42, MCC 32
SLAYTON -- Brooke Naas had 16 points to lead the Mountain-Lake/Comfrey Wolverines to a victory over Murray County Central 42-32. Teammate Riley Schroeder had nine points.
Coach Ryan Jans said, “We played hard and put pressure on MCC in the second half.”
The Wolverines’ record is 2-3 on the season and their next game is Friday at Edgerton.
MCC’s Emily Rohrer scored 18 points and teammate Seanna Swenson had seven points.

ADRIAN -- Julia Bullerman’s 30 points and Sadie Krahling’s 27 helped Adrian/Ellsworth get the jump on Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda.
Madeline Wagner added 10 points for the Dragons.
Taryn Evers had 16 points, Faith White 15 and Chrissy Hermeling 10 for HL-O/F.

WESTBROOK -- RRC’s Sondra Rindfleish scored 14 points with 9 rebounds in a loss to Westbrook-Walnut Grove 50-36. Teammate Stavnes finished with 12 points. Karli Arkell had eight points, eight rebounds.
For W-WG, Isabel Klumper scored 18 and Amelia Sikel had 17.
Girls hockey
Fairmont 3, Worthington 2
FAIRMONT -- Worthington’s Kessey Aljets scored a pair of goals, but the Trojans dropped a 3-2 decision to the Fairmont Cardinals here Tuesday night in a girls hockey game.
Fairmont scored twice in the first period and once in the second en route to a 3-0 lead. Aljets struck at 12:40 of the second period. She added another goal at 8:26 of the third period. Peyton Nickel assisted on both goals.
But the Trojans were unable to get the equalizer.
Worthington dropped to 1-8 this season, while Fairmont improved to 3-5-1. The Trojans are home to meet Morris-Benson Area Saturday at noon.

Wrestling
Wabasso Triangular
WABASSO -- The Windom/Mountain Lake wrestlers lost a tight one to host Wabasso 40-39 and also lost to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove 53-22.
In the Wabasso match, W/ML got on-mat victories from Jared Hunter at 120 pounds, Aiden Holmberg at 126, Tucker Renquist at 138, Caden Swoboda at 152, Micah Holmberg at 195. Hunter, Renquist, Swoboda and Holmberg won by falls.
In the TMB/WWG match, W/ML won with Law Mu at 106, Kameron Koerner at 113, Renquist at 132, Swoboda at 145. Mu recorded a fall in 54 seconds. Koerner and Renquist also pinned their foes.
