GIRLS SOCCER St. Peter 6, Worthington 0ST. PETER -- The Worthington High School girls soccer team wasn’t able to score against St. Peter Tuesday. But head coach Emily Ahlquist found a silver lining in the defeat. “We started stronger than I’ve ever seen them this year. We controlled the ball about 90 percent of the time in the first 20 minutes of the game,” she said.
After their slow start, the Saints outscored Worthington 4-0 in the first half and added two goals in the second half. For the game, they out-shot the Trojans 15-0.
Although WHS wasn’t able to attempt a shot technically, Ahlquist said the team had several opportunities that forced St. Peter’s goalkeeper to leave her box to protect.
