MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Kelsey DeSmith had 16 kills and 32 digs, but the Westbrook-Walnut Grove Chargers dropped a dramatic five-set match to Mountain Lake Area on Tuesday night.

Host MLA won by scores of 25-23, 9-25, 19-25, 25-15, 15-13.

Abby Wiggins was 33-for-34 serving with three aces for the Chargers, who dropped to 10-14 overall and 3-4 in league play. Izzy Klumper was 16-for-16 serving with three aces, and Addeson Jenniges was 24-for-24 with two aces.


Carlie Ross and Natalie Wahl combined for 17 W-WG kills. Jenniges had 40 assists and Abby Wiggins had three blocks. Defensive leaders included Isabella Rentschler, who had 35 digs, and Macie Christians, who had 25.

Adrian 3/Ellsworth, H-BC 0

ADRIAN -- Hali Bullerman was 18-for-18 serving with four aces as Adrian -Ellsworth defeated Hills-Beaver Creek on Tuesday night.

The scores were 25-16, 25-17, 25-18.

Josi Altman was 13-for-13 serving with two aces, and Julia Bullerman was tough at the net with 11 kills. Mayssa Tweet had 20 digs for the Dragons, who improved to 11-12 overall. Hills-Beaver Creek dropped to 3-17.

Pipestone Area 3, MCC 1

PIPESTONE -- Emily Rohrer had 16 kills, but the Murray County Central Rebels dropped a tightly contested match to the host Pipestone Area Arrows on Tuesday night.

The Arrows won by scores of 26-24, 25-20, 17-25, 25-17.


Abby Loosbrock and Emma Richardson combined for eight kills for MCC. Sophomore setter Kate Slettum had 28 assists.

Murray County Central dropped to 7-15 overall this season, while Pipestone Area improved to 15-11.

The Worthington Trojans girls’ and boy’s hockey teams both played home games on Thursday night. The girls’ team celebrated Senior Night and played the non-conference Austin Packers. Austin beat Worthington 6-1.
