USC beats Jackson in sub-state opener

The Jackson American Legion baseball team was beaten 6-1 in its sub-state baseball opener on Thursday, falling to United South Central.

WABASSO -- The Jackson American Legion baseball team was beaten 6-1 in its sub-state baseball opener on Thursday, falling to United South Central.

Jackson's only run came in the fifth inning. USC scored four times in the top of the seventh on four hits and three Jackson errors.

Jackson pitcher Logan Butzon pitched well, allowing just two hits and striking out nine over six innings.

The tournament continues Friday.
