PIPESTONE-The Pipestone Arrows varsity volleyball squad took three games to one over the Worthington Trojans Thursday night in Pipestone.
Set scores were 25-21, 28-26, 19-25 and 25-19.
Junior Taylor Kruisselbrink had 13 kills for the Arrows, followed closely by Meg Remund, who totaled 11. Brittany Evans had 32 digs for Pipestone, and Kelly Nettik had 37 set assists.
On the Trojan side of the court, Betsy Thompson led Worthington with 16 points serving, going 22-24. Paige Kinley finished 18-18, with 10 points. Brooke Henning had 15 kills against the Arrows, and Henning also had 14 digs on the night. Paige Gravenhof had 19 set assists, and Kinley also had 21 digs.
Worthington drops to 4-5 overall, and the Trojans play Redwood Thursday. The Arrows rise to 5-6 and play against Willmar in Pipestone on Tuesday.
JCC 3, Luverne 0
LUVERNE- The Jackson County Central Huskies swept the Luverne Cardinals by scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-15 in Luverne.
Kathyrn Nasby was 19 of 19 serving for the Huskies, finishing with 5 ace serves. Kaylee Burmeister was 11-12 with an ace serve, also finishing with 14 sigs and 21 kills. Rachel Johnson had 35 set assists for the Huskies. Nasby had 20 digs on the night, and Abby Benson had six kills.
Ashley Olson led the Cardinals with a perfect 12-12 serving. Following Olson, Ellen Dahl was also a spotless 9-9. Lexi Rust led the Cardinals with four kills, and Amanda Barnhardt had four solo blocks and 9 assists. Olson was 34-36 on sets, with three set assists.
Luverne is now 5-4-2, and plays in Ellsworth against the Panthers Monday night.
RRC 3, Ellsworth 0
JEFFERS-Falcon sophomore Mikaela Smith had a stellar night serving, finishing 24-24 with 11 aces, as she led the Red Rock Central Cardinals to a sweep of Ellsworth in Jeffers.
Set scores were 25-11, 25-13 and 25-18.
Smith had a solid night besides serving, as she totaled 20 set assists and 11 digs. Senior Cassy Erickson was also perfect on serving for the Falcons, going 8-8, with two aces. Brooke Rasmussen finished 16-17 with an ace. Rachel and Mel Kedl had a sisterly competition going against the Panthers, both girls finishing with four kills apiece, and each having two block assists. Taylor Price added 11 digs for RRC.
For the Panthers, Alexa Huisman had six kills, and also had two ace serves, while Heidi Nolte had 10 set assists. Huisman, Hannah Mulder and Danni DeBeer all had two blocks apiece.
MOC-Floyd Valley 3, S-O 0
ORANGE CITY, Iowa -The Sibley-Ocheyedan volleyball team put up a strong effort against a state-ranked opponent against MOC-Floyd Valley, as the Generals were swept 3-0.
Set scores were 25-12, 25-22 and 25-17.
Bridget Doeden was 10-11 serving with one ace for the Generals. Kaylee White had a perfect night serving, going 6-6. White also had 16 set assists on the night. Kayla Ackerman totaled 9 kills and six digs on the night. Doeden also finished with five kills and three solo blocks.
The Generals are now 6-5 overall and participate in the Spirit Lake tournament on Saturday.
SWU 3, SWC 1
OKABENA - After losing the first set 20-25, the Southwestern United Wildcats took the next three games 25-12, 27-25 and 26-24 over Southwest Minnesota Christian in Okabena.
Kailey Wendland was 16-16 serving with two aces for the Wildcats, with 21 digs, followed by Courtney Place, who was 16-17. Place also led the team with 25 kills, and she totaled seven blocks and 15 digs on the evening. Leading the SWU in set assists was Hailey Schumacher, who finished with 44. Schumacher also led the team with eight blocks.
For the Eagles, Kassydi Vreeman was 14-16 serving with two aces, and Tianna Top was also 14-16. Ann Pater had 11 kills. Top also led the team with five blocks. Sydney Esselink led the Eagles with 26 set assists.
SWC is now 8-1 overall, and 1-1 in the conference. They play W-WG Tuesday. SWU is 6-4 overall and is a perfect 2-0 in conference action.
Windom 3, RV 0
REDWOOD FALLS-The Windom Eagles swept the Redwood Valley Cardinals with set scores of 25-22, 25-9, and 25-23 in Redwood Falls.
Senior Rachel Sorenson led the Eagles on 18-19 serving with an ace. Sorenson also totaled 19 digs. Jasmine Carlson was 10-10 serving, with 19 digs. Megan Theesfeld had two solo blocks for Windom Area, Kelsey Hanefeld had eight kills, and senior Mikki Bolin led the Eagles with 20 set assists.
Windom is now 6-2 overall. They travel to take on the Fulda Raiders Monday. Redwood drops to 4-5 overall and takes on Cedar Mountain Monday.
Edgerton 3, Fulda 2
The Edgerton Flying Dutchman rallied after losing the first two sets to a win over the Fulda Raiders.
Set scores were 27-29, 15-25, 25-18, 25-21 and 11-15.
Courtney Tiesler was 23-27 serving for the Raiders, with seven aces and 14 points. Ruth Cheadle was 19-21 serving, with five aces and 13 points. Dani Heremling followed with10 points, going 15-17. Randi Tiesler had 37 set assists for Fulda. Courtney Tiesler had 9 kills, and Hermeling had 15 digs.
The Raiders drop to 0-8, and take on Windom on Monday. Edgerton takes on MCC Tuesday.
MCC 3, MLA 1
Senior Rebel Kristi Bose led Murray County Central with 19 kills, three aces, 23 digs and four solo blocks, as the Rebels overtook Mountain Lake 3-1 in Mountain Lake.
Set scores were 25-8, 25-18, 19-25 and 25-5.
Jade Giese had three aces for MCC, and Hannah Schmidt toatled 18 digs for the Rebels. Lindsey Barritt had 11 kills for MCC, followed by Giese and McKenzie Schmitz, who totaled four apiece. Barritt also totaled two solo blocks for the Rebels.
MCC is now 4-1, and they take on Edgerton on Tuesday, in Edgerton.
W-WG 3, H-BC 0
WESTBROOK - Sophomore Abby Herding recorded her 1,000th set assist in the second game as Westbrook-Walnut Grove beat Hills-Beaver Creek 3-0. Game scores were 25-13, 25-23 and 25-8.
Herding had 28 set assists on the night, and she also was 16-for-16 serving with three aces, and had 11 digs. The Chargers improved to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Teammate Liz Woelber was 11-for-12 serving with one ace. Dayna Comnick was 9-for-11 serving with three aces, and she also led the team in kills with 13. Cassidy Mischke added nine kills and Madison Takle five.
Comnick had 11 digs.
For Hills-Beaver Creek, Jessica Sandbulte was 8-for-8 at the service line with one ace. Madison Fick had two ace serves and Hattie Van Wyhe was 7-for-8 with two aces. Kelli Esselink led in kills with six. Marissa Kracht had 12 set assists and Taylor Wingert had nine digs.
T-M-B 3, LQPV 0
LAC QUI PARLE VALLEY - Gabbie Gervais put 20 of 21 serves in play for five aces and had 30 set assists to lead the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers to a 3-0 victory over Lac qui Parle Valley. The Panthers won on scores of 25-6, 25-5 and 25-11.
Panther Anna Peterson was 18-for-18 serving with four aces and teammate Sarah Stoneberg was 17-for-17 with four aces. Kassidy Przymus had 11 kills and Peterson contributed 15 digs.
Jessie Nelson had three blocks for T-M-B, now 8-2 on the season.
