Volleyball: Marshall, Minneota to play for titles; Pipestone Area to play for consolation championship

ST. PAUL — The Pipestone Area high school volleyball team defeated Rush City Friday in the Class AA state tournament consolation semifinal round, earning the Arrows the right to play Belle Plaine Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for the consolation championship.
PA dumped Rush City 25-21, 25-20, 25-15 as Kayla Hubbling secured 14 kills and Megan Lingen had 28 set assists.
Also on Friday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Marshall in Class AAA and Minneota in Class A moved to the championship round with semifinal wins.
Marshall swept Grand Rapids 25-18, 25-18 and 25-19 as Randi Wendorff had 11 kills, Leah Jones 10 and Brielle Riess nine. The championship will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday against Benilde-St. Margaret's.
In Class A, Minneota was also a three-set winner, 25-21, 25-20 and 25-13, over Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in Friday's semifinal. The Vikings will take on Mayer Lutheran Saturday at 2:30 p.m. for the championship.
