Tuesday volleyball roundup: Baustian leads Luverne; Windom sweeps RRC

Tuesday night high school volleyball:

Luverne 3, Fulda 0

LUVERNE -- Luverne improved to 2-3 on its high school volleyball season with a victory against non-conference opponent Fulda Tuesday night. The Cardinals won in three sets on scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-17.

Tacey Baustian went 16-for-16 with two aces, and Mackenzie Petersen went 15-for-15 with four aces to lead the Cardinals in serving.

Baustian also had 13 set assists and 12 digs as she was superb in all aspects of her game.

The Cardinals had three girls finish with five or more kills: Petersen had 5, Greta Ahrendt had 5, and Gracie Zewiske had 7.

Windom 3, RRC 0

WINDOM --  Invigorated by playing at home, Windom Area advanced past Red Rock Central in three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-16 and 26-24.

Leading the Eagles from the service line was Autumn Hauge who went 17-of-18 with three aces.

Senior Maurissa Isaacs did a little of everything for Windom, finishing with nine kills, five digs and two ace serves. Katelyn Nichols led the Eagles in kills with 10, and Becca Hacker finished with a game high 16 set assists.

The Falcons’ top server was Nicole Schroepfer, who connected on 11 of her 12 serves with two aces.

Schroepfer, Karli Arkell, and Vanessa Kedl all had three kills on the night for RRC.

PA 3, SWC 1

PIPESTONE -- Solid serving and setting, and excellent court coverage helped Pipestone Area win 3-1 over Southwest Christian. Scores were 25-22, 25-17, 14-25 and 25-20.

The Arrows didn’t let many balls fall to the floor. Meanwhile, several Southwest Christian players emerged with good statistics.

Holly Vis was 23-for-23 serving with 14 points, and teammate Jazzy Prins wsa 18-for-18 with 10 points. Prins had 18 kills for the Eagles, and Bella Niemeyer added 12. Niemeyer and Maren Nerem had four ace blocks apiece and Sommer Schaap contributed 35 set assists. Jessa Nibbelink led Southwest with 21 digs.

H-BC 3, Ellsworth 0

ELLSWORTH -- Hills-Beaver Creek won on the road in three sets against Ellsworth on scores of 25-14, 25-20, and 25-9.

Ashlyn Meester and Kendra DeBeer led the Panthers in kills with three each.

Morgan Dreesen had two ace serves along with two blocks and 15 set assists.

Akron-Westfield 3, H-LP 1

Host Akron-Westfield defeated Harris-Lake Park 3-1 on scores of 25-13, 25-23, 20-25 and 27-25.

Taylor Meyer had 18 kills for H-LP, to go along with 22 digs. Mady Brevik had 23 set assists. Cheyenne Nelson had five service aces.

Kenzie Heikens had 17 digs, Tessa Gunderson 16 digs and Brevik 14.
