JCC Tournament

JACKSON -- The Worthington Trojans lost four matches in the Jackson County Central tournament on Saturday. They fell 14-25, 22-25 to Litchfield, 21-25, 19-25 to Triton, 19-25, 16-25 to Murray County Central and 20-25, 15-20 to Red Rock Central.

Steph Bauman had a good day serving for Worthington, putting 27 of 28 in play for 15 points with four aces. Brianna Veen was 23-for-26 for 11 points with three aces. And Jordyn Sholes was 11-for-12 for nine points and two aces.

Bauman had 24 set assists. Sophie Wietzema had 18 kills and Madisyn Huisman 14. Kara Thuringer had 15 digs and Payton Sauerbrei 12, as Wietzema and Bauman both had 11 of their own.

In the same tournament, Murray County Central split four games, losing to Luverne 14-25, 19-25, losing to Heron Lake-Okabena 23-25, 17-25, beating Worthington and beating Montevideo 25-16, 25-17.

The results gave MCC first place in the bronze bracket.

Alyssa Groves had 29 kills for the Rebels, and Danielle Kuball had 34 set assists.

GTRA Tournament

Harris-Lake Park won four matches Saturday in the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire tournament.

H-LP beat GTRA 18-21, 21-10, 15-12, West Bend-Mallard 21-14, 17-21, 15-7, GTRA 21-14, 13-21, 15-6 and West Hancock 21-10, 21-8.

Taylor Meyer had 33 kills in the tournament for H-LP, and teammate Mady Brevik had 31 set assists. Tessa Gunderson had 20 digs.
