MADISON -- The Worthington girls' tennis team won their first game of the season, taking down Lac qui Parle Valley 7-0 in Madison Monday.
Trojans No. 1 singles player Kate Lesnar defeated Kylie Jahn, of LQPV, 7-5, 6-4. In No. 2 singles Elizabeth Luke beat Amber Borstad 6-3, 6-3, while Kirsten Aljets took down Kamryn Siedchlag 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Finally, in No. 4 singles, Kara Honius beat LQPV's Marissa Gearman 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles action, Worthington's No. 1 team of Emily Williamson and Rachel Drietz defeated Anna Devorak and Mary Savoy 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. In No. 2 doubles Annie Lesnar and Brianna Kempeman beat Karissa Jahn and Kristine Frank 6-1, 6-0. Finally, the No. 3 doubles team of Makensie Carstensen and Laura Wetering took down Courtney Hanson and Molly Hacker 6-3, 6-2.
In JV singles, Erika Schutter won 8-6, Alicia Khatt won 6-3, Miranda LeBrun lost 6-8, Justyce Voss won 6-5, and Paige Stewart lost 6-5. The JV doubles pair of Ashley Jansma and Sarah Janssen won their match 8-1.
The Trojans take on Fairmont Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Worthington.
