CLARA CITY -- The Worthington girls' tennis team fell to the MACCRAY Wolverines 6-1 Thursday in Clara City.

Katie Lesnar got the only win for the Trojans in No. 1 singles over MACCRAY's Amber Wieberdink 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, while Emily Williamson lost to Brooke Rambow 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.

In No. 3 singles, Elizabeth Luke was defeated by Wolverines Jenna Mersbergen 6-0, 7-5, while No. 4 singles player Laura Wetering lost to Kim Trulock 6-2, 6-1.

The No. 1 doubles team of Annie Lesnar and Brianna Kempema fell to MACCRAY's Rachel Davids and Erica Bonnema 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) while the No. 2 doubles team of Rachel Drietz and Kirsten Aljets lost to Kaylee Christenson and Annie Sandry 6-4, 6-2. In the final doubles match, Miranda LeBrun and Alicia Khatt were defeated by Heather Marcus and Belle Brynjulfson.

For the JV team, Ashley Jansma lost 8-0, while doubles pair Sarah Janssen and Erica Schutte won their match 8-5. Finally, Paige Stewart and Justyce Voss also won by a score of 8-1.

"Final scores looked one way, but it looked like a 4-3 match," Trojans coach Mike Marquardt said. "All in all, it was a good match. I was pleased with how we did."

Worthington plays Saturday at the Marshall Invitational starting at 9 a.m.
