WHS track & field teams run well in Mankato

MANKATO -- With 53 points Tuesday night at Mankato State, the Worthington girls' track and field team finished second in a five team competition.

The Trojan boys finished third with 33 team points.

On the girls' side, Waseca finished first with 72.5 points, while Mankato West finished third with 49.5 points.

Sarah Cham finished first in the triple jump with distance of 33' 1", and first in the 60 meter high hurdles with a time of 10.21 seconds.

Jenna Donkersloot took first in the shot put wit a toss of 34' 10.25".

Kaitlin Gerber finished second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:44, while Kayla Vander Veen finished second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.1.

Jenny Mammen also took home second place honors in the 60 meter low hurdles with a time of :10.29.

A pair of relays also finished second for the Trojans.

The 4x200 relay team of Anneli Dudley, Alyssa Smith, Holli Aggen and Cham finished with a time of 1:58.4, while the 4x400 team of Rachel Malmgren, Gerber, Vander Veen and Cham finished second with a time of 4:26.9.

Malmgren also took home a pair of third place finishes individually. She finished the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:06.5 to finish third, and placed third in the high jump after clearing 4'8".

Mammen finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of :29.78.

Stephanie Jaycox finished fourth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 14:08, while Chelsea Schmitz finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 15'-4".

On the boys side of the meet, Mankato West finished first with 113 points, while LeSueur-Henderson came in second with 57 points to finish ahead of Worthington's 33 team points.

Travis Pederson earned a trio of first place finishes.

Individually, Pederson won the 400 meter dash with a time of :53.81, the triple jump with a distance of 42' 1", and teamed up with Tom Mammen, John Mead and Adou Omot in the 4x400 meter relay to finsh first in a time of 3:37.9.

Omot earned a first place finish of his own in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:08.

Mammen also placed individually, finishing third in the long jump with a leap of 20' 4" and fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.29.

Aaron Grafing finished fourth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:16.1.

The Trojans will have another meet Saturday at Brandon Valley, South Dakota.
