WORTHINGTON -- With the start of another Wild Turkey Shoot-out in Worthington this weekend, the annual tournament will officially become (approximately) one-third of a century old.
The 33rd Shootout boys basketball tournament bounces the basketballs all over Worthington on Saturday, bringing players, coaches and fans from six grade levels to town. The tournament, sponsored by the Sports and Recreation Committee of the Worthington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, will play down to champions in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th-grade levels.
As usual, there will be plenty of basketball. All teams will be guaranteed at least three games.
Contests will take place in gymnasiums at Prairie Elementary School, Worthington Christian School, Worthington Middle School, Worthington High School, the Worthington Area YMCA, Minnesota West Community and Technical College, and the American Reformed Church.
