If pitching is the name of the game, it appears “Redbirds” and “Pirates” are the labels to learn this summer in area amateur baseball.

Luverne’s Redbirds won twice last week, blanking Hadley 11-0 and shutting out Jackson 21-0. Luverne has only one loss on the season.

The unbeaten Windom Pirates, meanwhile, shut out Fox Lake 6-0 in the team’s only game of the weekend.
