Wrestling: Axford most valuable in Benson

Anthony Axford earned Most Valuable Wrestler honors for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove at the Braves Classic in Benson. Axford won the 145-pound weight class with a fall over Quad County's Ayden Friese in 1:59 in the championship match.

T-M-B/W-WG placed first in the team standings with 237 points. Canby was second with 217.

Ten teams competed.

At the Rumble on the Red Tournament in Fargo, N.D., Windom Area’s outstanding 113-pounder, Brett Willaby, lost a key match to JJ Andress of White Bear Lake, 4-0, and did not place. Cobras Zach Spinks also competed well despite not placing.

But one Windom Area wrestler did place. Alex Borsgard, at 145, followed up a 13-12 loss to Moise Madimba of Coon Rapids with 5-2 and 7-3 decisions to finish third.
