WORTHINGTON - The Worthington Optimist Club and YMCA hosted its annual All-Comers track and field meet Monday night. More than 100 kids aged 2-13 participated in this year’s meet.
Kids can choose to participate in running events ranging from 50-meters to 800-meters along with a standing long jump and softball throw. The evening ends with a 4x100-meter relay.
“The nice thing about this program is that it is a great opportunity for kids to get an introduction to what a real track meet is about,” said Worthington YMCA programs director CJ Nelson. “We try to make the event as fun as possible for all kids who participate. Everyone who runs an event gets a ribbon immediately when they cross the finish line.”
