In the darkness of the South Florida swamps, it was a tear-soaked "me" hoisting the big, silver championship trophy in victory lane at the 1.5-mile oval following the Ford EcoBoost 400.
PAUL — Jason Pominville kept Buffalo's winning streak alive in dramatic fashion, scoring with just 90 seconds remaining to give the visiting Sabres a 3-2 comeback win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, Nov. 17. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Sabres scored three unanswered goals, capped off by Pominville's late-game strike.
MINNEAPOLIS — Andrew Wiggins led six Minnesota Timberwolves in double figures with 23 points in a 112-96 romp past the visiting Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, Nov., 16. Derrick Rose scored 17 points, Robert Covington and Karl-Anthony Towns added 14 each, Jeff Teague had 13 and Taj Gibson contributed 12 for the Timberwolves, who won their third straight game and avenged a 111-81 defeat at Portland on Nov. 4.
SEATTLE --- Russell Wilson hit tight end Ed Dickson for a 15-yard touchdown pass with 5:08 remaining as the Seattle Seahawks rallied from an early double-digit deficit to defeat the visiting Green Bay Packers 27-24 Thursday night, Nov. 15. The Seahawks (5-5) snapped a two-game losing streak. The Packers (4-5-1) remained winless in five road games this season.
ST. PAUL -- Mikko Koivu had a goal and two assists, and the Minnesota Wild cruised to a 6-2 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. Charlie Coyle, Eric Staal, Nino Niederreiter, Matt Dumba and Jason Zucker also scored in the victory. Minnesota avenged a loss last month to Vancouver and earned at least one point for the eighth time in nine home games.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The newest Timberwolves made their debut but it was holdovers Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins who led host Minnesota to a 107-100 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night.
ST. PAUL -- Dmitry Orlov scored two goals and added one assist as the visiting Washington Capitals defeated the Minnesota Wild 5-2 on Tuesday night, Nov. 13. Andre Burakovsky added a goal and an assist, while Lars Eller had two assists. Rookie goalie Pheonix Copley finished with 26 saves and earned his third career victory.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Sterling Shepard hauled in a 3-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning with 53 seconds remaining Monday night, giving the New York Giants a 27-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif. Manning, who earlier had thrown two TD passes to Odell Beckham Jr., drove the Giants (2-7) 75 yards in nine plays after Robbie Gould's third field goal of the game, a 30-yarder with 2:46 remaining, had given the 49ers a 23-20 lead.
PHILADELPHIA -- Quarterback Dak Prescott threw for one touchdown and rushed for another as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the host Philadelphia Eagles 27-20 Sunday night, Nov. 11. Ezekiel Elliott caught the touchdown pass and also rushed for one as the Cowboys (4-5) snapped a two-game losing streak. Prescott was 26 of 36 for 270 yards, while Elliott rushed 19 times for 151 yards. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, who was 32 of 44 for 360 yards, tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Zach Ertz, but the Eagles fell to 4-5. Ertz had 14 catches for 145 yards.
AVONDALE, Ariz. — Kyle Busch moved to the lead for a final time with 36 laps to go, survived a couple of late restarts, and went on to win the Can-Am 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at ISM Raceway in Avondale on Sunday, Nov. 11. The victory secured the Joe Gibbs Racing driver a berth in next weekend's four-driver, season-ending, championship-deciding race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in South Florida.
